Jack And His Cars

Jack has been involved with Saab automobiles since 1963, when he purchased a 93F. He has owned over 100 Saab's since then. Jack became heavily involved with Saab's when he opened Pacific Motor Imports in San Louis Obispo California in late 1967. PMI sold Saab, Fiat, and Citroen automobiles, as well as servicing nearly all kinds of import cars, from VW's to Ferrari's.

Jack was not only partial owner, but chief mechanic as well. He's never been afraid to get his hands dirty. After selling PMI in late 1974, Jack enrolled at Art Center College of Design in LA. He trained as an Industrial and Automotive Designer. Upon completion Jack opened his own Industrial Design Firm in LA.

After a couple years, he moved up north, settling in the Southern Oregon region in 1978. From this point on, Jack has continued to operate his Industrial Design business, and branched out into the engineering and design of replacement parts for Saab automobiles.

During these 20 years, Jack has raced Saab's, repaired Saab's, restored Saab's, and of course written about Saab's. Throughout the years, Jack has contributed to the Saab Club newsletter, and eventually published his own technical magazine, THE SAAB JOURNAL for nearly 6 years.

The past year has seen a change for Jack. He has been concentrating more on the Industrial Illustration side of the business, being involved directly with the design and publication of several Kit Aircraft Manufacturers. Jack is still heavily involved in Saab's, now offering a smaller but more focused supply of replacement and specialty parts. Right now he's out in the shop, underneath another dirty old Sonett. His favorite place!

Just getting back from a spirited drive around local Southern Oregon mountain roads. A Sonett really shines on these kind of twisty, point and squirt roads.

Jack just loves it when he can engineer a new part for vintage Saabs. He often walks out into the west field and displays his new found treasures!

Playing Ricky Racer. Another start to a full restoration project is underway. Zoom, zoom, what a car!
